Before the transfer, please let WCF know the gift is coming. Email Chloe at chloe@whatcomcf.org or call 360-671-6463 with the stock name, number of shares, approximate value, expected transfer date, and your contact information. Be sure to designate the gift to the Washington News Fund.

You can recommend a grant from your donor-advised fund through your sponsor’s online portal. Make the grant payable to Whatcom Community Foundation (EIN 91-1726410) and enter “Washington News Fund” as the designation or purpose.
If you are 70½ or older, you can give directly from your IRA, and the gift can count toward your required minimum distribution. Please talk with your tax advisor first. Then ask your IRA custodian to send the distribution to Whatcom Community Foundation, designated to the Washington News Fund, and let WCF know it’s coming through their online QCD form.
